Highway 21 — the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway — begins at Gowen Road, which runs along the south perimeter of the airport. You exit BOI, turn onto Gowen Road heading east, and you are already on the road that goes directly to the ranch. No highway interchanges to navigate. No complicated routing. One road, 42 miles, 40 minutes in good conditions. The drive is beautiful from the first mile.
Boise Airport handles private and business aviation through a world-class FBO — Jackson Jet Center — with 140,000 square feet of hangar space, a 9,400 sq ft private terminal, two conference rooms, and full maintenance capabilities. The ranch is 40 minutes from wheels-down at KBOI. For groups doing full-property buyouts, private arrival is the natural fit.
The following operators provide on-demand private charter service into and out of KBOI. Rates typically range from $2,600/hr for turboprops to $14,000+/hr for large cabin jets. All links open to the operator's Boise-specific page.
Two public-use airstrips serve the Idaho City corridor directly — one a USFS gravel strip 1 mile from historic downtown Idaho City, the other a grass strip in Garden Valley approximately 30 miles from the ranch. Both are unattended, have no FBOs, and require current mountain flying experience and thorough preflight planning. Idaho manages over 30 backcountry airstrips through its Division of Aeronautics — these two are the closest to Majestic Mountain Ranch.
Both U98 and U88 are unattended public-use backcountry airstrips with no services, no fuel, and no winter maintenance. Mountain flying experience, current checkout, and thorough preflight planning are required. Verify current NOTAMs via FAA NOTAM system and consult the Idaho Division of Aeronautics backcountry airport directory before any flight. All specifications above are for reference only — confirm with current FAA data before flight.
The ranch is on the right (east) side of Highway 21, one mile south of historic Idaho City. GPS coordinates 43.8186° N, 115.8541° W will get you there directly. Look for Lodgepole Lane — the entrance is signed off the highway. If you hit The Springs hot springs heading north, you've gone just past it.
Shelly coordinates arrivals directly for all group events and multi-unit bookings. If your group is flying in, she can help with timing, luggage logistics, and local transport recommendations. Reach her at info@majesticmountainranch.com or (877) 616-6726.
